KEY POINTS

  • Vanadium Resources raised about A$1 million through an oversubscribed share placement.
  • Funds will support studies, financing, site work and vanadium and pig iron offtake talks.
  • The company plans a September US roadshow to engage potential investors and strategic partners.

ASX-listed Vanadium Resources has secured about A$1 million in fresh capital to advance the development of its planned V-Iron Plant, a next-generation critical minerals smelter in South Africa.

The company said the funds were raised through an oversubscribed share placement backed by firm commitments from sophisticated and institutional investors. The placement, which is being conducted before costs, is expected to provide Vanadium Resources with the capital needed to maintain momentum on the project as it moves towards more detailed technical and financial studies.

The V-Iron Plant forms part of the company’s broader strategy to establish an integrated mine-to-metal operation capable of supplying vanadium and other critical mineral products to the US, Western markets and allied economies.

Vanadium Resources said the new funding will be used to progress several workstreams following completion of its accelerated scoping study.

A key priority will be securing institutional support for the project’s development financing. The company also plans to undertake a US roadshow in September, where it expects to meet potential funding providers and strategic offtake partners.

The roadshow is intended to test and deepen investor interest in the V-Iron Plant, particularly among institutions seeking exposure to critical minerals, energy transition metals and secure supply chains.

The company will also begin preparing workstreams for a definitive feasibility study and front-end engineering and design, both important steps in moving the project from early-stage assessment towards construction and production.

Offtake discussions gather pace

Part of the capital will be directed towards advancing offtake negotiations for the plant’s future production.

Vanadium Resources is pursuing discussions with US Vanadium for the offtake of 100% of the vanadium-bearing slag expected to be produced by the facility. It is also engaging potential customers and partners for pig iron produced through the planned operation.

Securing long-term offtake agreements could help strengthen the project’s commercial position and provide greater visibility over future revenues as the company works towards a larger project financing package.

The company is also progressing financing discussions through Rand Merchant Bank, with potential debt and equity funding options being considered.

Vanadium Resources executive chairperson Jurie Wessels said the company was taking a selective approach to raising capital, with the latest placement designed to fund important milestones without committing too early to a larger financing package.

He said the September US visit would provide an opportunity to engage directly with institutions that could offer longer-term funding aligned with the critical minerals and energy transition sectors.

Wessels said the company was sequencing its capital-raising efforts to improve the chances of securing favourable financing terms while matching funding requirements with the project’s development timeline.
