  • Their appointments aim to strengthen Barrick’s global stakeholder and investor engagement.

Barrick Mining Corporation has appointed three senior executives to strengthen its corporate affairs, communications and investor relations operations as the mining company seeks to improve how it engages with investors, employees, host communities and other stakeholders.

The company announced the appointments on August 11, 2026, saying the new leadership structure will bring its communications, capital markets and stakeholder engagement functions closer together.

The appointments involve Sarah Ball Teslik, Daniel Wilner and Emily Chieng, who will take up senior positions covering corporate affairs, capital markets and investor relations.

Barrick operates across 17 countries, making effective communication and strong relationships with investors, governments, employees and communities important to its business.

Sarah Ball Teslik has been appointed Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, while Daniel Wilner will serve as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Capital Markets. Emily Chieng has also been appointed Vice President, Investor Relations.

Together, the three executives will support Barrick’s efforts to improve its corporate communication, investor engagement and relationships with key stakeholders across its global operations.

Barrick President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Hill said the company needed to communicate its activities effectively to shareholders, employees and host communities.

Hill said the three executives bring experience, credibility and new ideas that would help Barrick build a corporate affairs structure that reflects the size and ambitions of the company.

Teslik joins Barrick with more than 40 years of experience in investor stewardship, corporate governance, securities law, communications and the extractive industries.

Before joining Barrick, she was a partner at Greenspoon Marder LLP and president of its affiliate, Value(s) Management and Investing.

She previously worked as a partner at Joele Frank and served as Senior Vice President at Apache Corporation.

Teslik is also the founder and manager of Governance Week, an initiative focused on corporate governance and related issues.

Earlier in her career, she served as Chief Executive Officer of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and was the founding Executive Director of the Council of Institutional Investors.

Her career also includes experience in corporate law, giving her a broad background in governance, investor relations and corporate affairs.

Teslik holds a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University, a Master of Arts in Modern History from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Whitman College.

Wilner to oversee communications and capital markets

Wilner has been appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Capital Markets.

He has advised Barrick for several years and will now take responsibility for leading the company’s integrated communications and investor relations team.

Before joining the company, Wilner founded and led Stone Pine, a strategic advisory firm that worked with organisations and businesses in sectors including mining, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, finance, climate technology and fintech.

His professional experience includes corporate strategy, proxy communications, environmental, social and governance disclosure, as well as engagement with institutional investors and corporate boards. Wilner is based in Montreal, Canada.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Harvard University, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. He was also a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford.

Chieng has been appointed Vice President, Investor Relations, bringing experience from the mining, metals, steel and investment sectors.

She joins Barrick from United States Steel Corporation, where she served as Investor Relations Officer from 2023.

During her time at U.S. Steel, Chieng was involved in investor engagement while the company reviewed strategic alternatives and later went through its acquisition by Nippon Steel. Before joining U.S. Steel, she spent almost a decade at Goldman Sachs.

Her most recent role at Goldman Sachs was Vice President, Equity Research, where she covered 20 North American metals and mining companies.

This experience gave her a strong understanding of the mining and metals industry as well as direct knowledge of how investors assess companies in the sector.

Chieng began her professional career at BHP. She holds Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science degrees from Monash University.

The appointments form part of Barrick’s efforts to strengthen its communication and engagement with the different groups connected to its business.

The company’s operations across 17 countries mean it deals with a wide range of investors, employees, governments, host communities and business partners.

Bringing corporate affairs, communications, capital markets and investor relations closer together could allow Barrick to present a more coordinated message to financial markets and other stakeholders.

The backgrounds of the three executives also give the company experience across corporate governance, securities law, investor relations, strategic communication and the mining and metals sector.

The new structure is expected to support Barrick’s communication with shareholders while also helping the company explain its activities and priorities to employees and communities where it operates.

The appointments therefore strengthen an important part of Barrick’s global leadership as the company continues to manage operations and stakeholder relationships across its international mining portfolio.
