KEY POINTS

  • Thompson and Adams resign from the board, but retain operational roles.

Copper 360, South Africa’s only listed primary copper producer, is undergoing a comprehensive restructure to strengthen its managerial, operational, and governance structures.

This restructure comes as the corporation positions itself to take advantage of the increasing worldwide demand for copper fueled by the ongoing energy transformation. Also as part of this restructuring, Gordon Thompson and Quinton Adams have resigned from the Copper 360 Board of Directors effective 31 July 2025. Thompson, the Chief Operating Officer, will remain in his operational role to supervise performance and growth projects, while Adams will continue handling community and government relations.

Copper 360’s expansion plan and ramp-up aims

Copper 360 is in the midst of an ambitious growth strategy, seeking to boost its copper production to 5,000 tons per year in the near future. The company maintains a large position in the O’Okiep Copper District in the Namaqua Copper Belt, with mining rights over 12 working mines and an additional 60 possibilities spanning across 19,000 hectares. Furthermore this resource base is anchored by over 70 years of geological data and mining experience, which supports its growth and exploration objectives.

The company is also strategically preparing itself to become a key player in the low-emission copper sector. The energy shift has caused an increasing demand for copper, a critical metal in the development of renewable energy technologies, electric vehicles, and other green infrastructure projects.

Copper 360 enhances its position in this sector through its considerable resource base and its ongoing modernization of the O’Okiep Copper Company’s historic multi-mine concept, which is crucial for the company’s future expansion.

Long-term aim for sustainable copper production

Looking ahead, Copper 360 wants to take a modernized and sustainable approach to its copper mining activities. The company is committed to produce low-emission copper, helping meet both local and worldwide demand while contributing to South Africa’s energy transition. Copper 360 is also streamlining operations, strengthening governance, and improving efficiency as it continues to focus on growth and sustainability.

Moreover Copper 360 has a lot of resources, strong leadership, and plans for strategic growth. This makes it a good candidate to meet the growing global demand for copper and in addition help with the energy transition.
