KEY POINTS

  • Multotec unveiled new equipment designed to enhance production capabilities in mining operations.
  • The H450 Conturbex Centrifuge improves dewatering efficiency and solid-liquid separation.
  • The Shaking Fluidised Bed Dryer offers energy-efficient thermal processing for powders and pelletized materials.

In the ever-changing world of mining and mineral processing, Multotec remains committed to pushing innovation through research and development.

Multotec demonstrated its passion at Electra Mining Africa 2024, where it exhibited a number of cutting-edge products and solutions.

These new improvements not only reflect Multotec’s commitment to enhancing production capabilities but also highlight the company’s continuing support of the sector through advanced tailored technology.

The H450 Conturbex Centrifuge, a continuously working filtration centrifuge, was one of the most prominent devices on show. The centrifuge is a revolving system that uses centrifugal forces to separate particles and liquids via a screen element.

According to Gerrit du Plessis, equipment Specialist at Multotec, “This equipment is suited for applications that require mechanical dewatering of process streams in order to generate a dewatered product or recover liquid from solid waste.”

“The centrifuge improves mining operations by continuously and efficiently separating solids and liquids, which is required for dewatering and mineral recovery. Its high throughput capacity enables the processing of enormous amounts of material, making it perfect for large-scale mining projects.”

“The centrifuge’s strong structure provides longevity in severe mining conditions, while its energy-efficient design helps to cut operating costs. This leads to increased production, less waste, and better resource recovery, eventually improving the mining process” He said.

Shaking Fluidised Bed Dryer boosts energy efficiency in the final drying stages

Speaking further, Du Plessis listed another feature of the item, the Shaking Fluidised Bed Dryer, also known as the Tema Process Dryer. This device thermally processes powders, crystalline products, and pelletized materials using fluidized air contact to achieve the necessary final moisture content.

He observes that the shaking action improves fluidisation and transfer, making it an energy-efficient method of eliminating moisture in products.

“This dryer can operate at product temperatures up to 400ËšC, using various mediums such as air, steam, and inert gas,” according to him.

“It is especially useful in businesses that require final drying stages, such as the food industry, which attempts to modify taste, flavour, and texture. The dryer’s design enables the use of high-temperature-resistant materials, which reduces energy expenditures and maintenance” he concluded.

Gerhard Hendriksz, Vice President – Growth Products, emphasizes that this pump is ideal for any mining operation and is especially successful in slurry applications.

According to Mining Weekly, Hendriksz added that the pump is designed to minimize downtime by including features like changeable impellers and gland packing that make maintenance easier. It enables pumping at greater elevations at lower speeds, which minimizes wear rates and extends the pump’s lifespan.

Innovative slurry pump and stainless steel cyclone enhance mining operations

According to Ernst Bekker, Product Specialist – Cyclones at Multotec, the stainless steel cyclone ensures purity and is appropriate for high-temperature situations, as opposed to standard cyclones with rubber linings that degrade over time.

“The cyclone can withstand temperatures up to 100ËšC and is suitable for application in a variety of sectors, including food and chemicals. It is especially useful in areas where high temperatures and corrosion resistance are required,” adds Bekker.

Furthermore, Richard Haydon, Multotec’s Product Specialist – Cyclones gave details on the stainless steel cyclone’s ability, to accommodate a wide range of demanding applications illustrating the cyclone team’s versatility and technical expertise.

“Multotec enables clients to generate high-quality goods that match customer specifications for dryness, purity, and flow characteristics.”

“Multotec delivers specialized solutions for local and international markets, leveraging its significant experience and the backing of its OEM sister firms Siebtechnik Tema and Tema Process.”

“Multotec’s integrated strategy strengthens its position as an industry leader in versatility and innovation, devoted to boosting local manufacturing and providing cutting-edge solutions.” He concluded.
