Saipem, recognized as a vanguard in the global energy services domain, has recently acquired two crucial offshore contracts. These are set in distinct strategic locations: Cote d’Ivoire and Italy. The company’s success in procuring these contracts symbolises a potent trajectory, marking a significant uptick in its operational and growth ambitions.
The contract in Cote d’Ivoire is particularly noteworthy. Eni Côte d’Ivoire, in partnership with Petroci, has chosen Saipem for a pivotal role in their subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF) project. This responsibility pertains especially to the Baleine Phase 2 initiative. The project derives its name from the Baleine oil and gas field, an expansive underwater reservoir situated a staggering 1,200 meters beneath the ocean’s surface.
To comprehend the depth of Saipem’s involvement, one needs to delve into the intricacies of the project. The company’s remit will cover a broad spectrum of tasks rooted in engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI). Specifically, Saipem will lay an impressive 20 km of rigid lines, anchor around 10 km of versatile risers and jumpers, and seamlessly integrate a 15 km stretch of umbilicals to a state-of-the-art floating unit. Capitalizing on their fleet of advanced offshore construction vessels, Saipem has charted a clear roadmap with a target to culminate the installation phase by 2024.
This current endeavor serves as a testament to Saipem’s unwavering dedication to fortifying Cote d’Ivoire’s energy landscape. It further cements its status as a key stakeholder in the region’s infrastructural progression. To contextualize Saipem’s legacy, it’s pivotal to recall its previous engagements. The company was a pivotal force during the Baleine Phase 1 operations, where they deployed the formidable Saipem 10000 and Saipem 12000 vessels. This was followed by the prompt realization of two contracts related to the same phase, reflecting Saipem’s agility, prowess, and undeterred commitment to driving projects to fruition.
