One Carbon World (OCW), a UK-based not-for-profit, will serve as the official climate impact partner for the Carbon Markets Africa Summit (CMAS) in Johannesburg from October 22 to 23.
The partnership underscores the event’s focus on credibility and sustainability as Africa positions itself at the center of the global carbon markets conversation.
One Carbon World to measure summit footprint
OCW Africa Director Madeleine Garlick said the group will measure the event’s emissions and provide year-on-year data to track progress. “It’s a powerful move by an organisation not just hosting the conversation but also walking the walk,” she said.
Partnerships driving African carbon market growth
Garlick stressed that collaboration between businesses, communities, and project developers will be critical to scaling African carbon markets. “Partnership is the way we will get scale out of the African carbon market and ensure it is delivering for everybody,” she noted.
Building sustainable events across the continent
OCW CEO Andrew Bowen said the group’s experience in footprinting major events worldwide will help shape credible climate action. “We look forward to advancing the future of sustainable events in Africa and beyond,” he said.
The summit, organised by VUKA Group in partnership with the UN Development Programme, will convene regulators, investors, climate-ready projects, and global institutions. A pre-summit day is scheduled for October 21.
